Description
This remarkable paving from Bradstone’s premium StoneFlair range features weather worn effect paving with a distinctly aged appearance. This has been achieved by modelling these on original 17th century flagstones taken from Bamburgh Mill in Northumbria and the roughened edges and pockmarked surfaces of these Bradstone StoneFlair slabs look utterly authentic and aged thanks to the tasteful Olde Blend colour of the slabs which describes a mix of pinky beiges and blue-grey hues.
Bamburgh Mill is sold as mixed patio packs which cover 10.90m² with mortar lines of 15mm between slabs. I find that this sized joint works particularly well with aged effect paving slabs as it blends any irregularities and resembles how the original flagstones may have looked. The mixed patio packs contain a carefully defined quantity of various dimension slabs that work well together due to the lengths being multiples of each other. The key figures are 620mm, 465mm and 310mm and a mix of these dimensions in both square and rectangular slabs are included.
StoneFlair by Bradstone Bamburgh Mill Paving Olde Blend has slabs which are 50mm thick, far deeper than most other cheaper paving slabs around and indicates the quality and durability of these premium quality StoneFlair slabs. As this is manufactured paving, it is far easier to lay than authentic natural stone is there are far few irregularities in thickness or surface texture on the base of the slabs.
