Granite as a material is more often found as kitchen worktops nowadays but this ultra-hard rock is also a great medium for paved patio areas. Taken from Bradstone’s premium StoneFlair range, this natural granite paving is machine cut for straight-edge slabs and has a distinctly modern style derived from its minimalist grey colours and square or rectangle shapes. The two shades available are graphite and silver grey which can be combined to create a checkerboard pattern.
Due to the stability of granite being such a hard igneous rock with interlocking clastic structure, a thin joint of just 2mm can be used as it won’t expand and contact over time as much as weaker materials such as limestone. The key to achieving a great looking minimalist style is to go for quality. With such an absence of detail, it’s absolutely essential that what is presented is both flawless and premium.
When laying StoneFlair by Bradstone Natural Granite Paving, it’s important to be sure you’re laying it the right way up. The textured side otherwise known as flamed should be on the surface to create the natural granite feel and to give the traction and grip underfoot to prevent slipping. Complimentary natural granite setts are also available in black, dark grey and silver grey which make great border detail with this paving or any other for that matter. They look somewhat similar to cobble stones with their roughly hewn edges.
