As if Bradstone’s selectino of natural sandstone paving wasn’t enough, they also provide a separate option in the form of Antique natural sandstone. This collection, available in a variety of colours, has been finished with an application of specialised distressing techniques including rumbling and tooling which accentuates the riven profiling and gives a weathered appearance with slight discrepancies in the surface that add to an overall characteristic finish and gives the impression, as the title would suggest, of an antique and heavily aged patio. I advise you request a sample to see the remarkable finish that has been achieved for yourself.
Although antique natural sandstone paving appears to be so rustic that it would appear bespoke, it is sold in convenient mixed patio packs with compatible dimensions to make setting out and laying your new patio a simple task. The dimensions included range between 900mm and 300mm and obviously as multiples of each other fit together perfectly. As mentioned, a range of colours are available, 4 in fact. These include Sunset Buff as pictured here as well as Autumn Green, Cragside and Fossil Buff. An interest effect can be achieved by mixing these colours together by simply buying two or three different patio packs which cover 15.30m² each.
A joint with of 15mm is recommended with natural stone paving such as this to allow for movement over time and to ensure the slabs are bedded firmly. Each flagstone is 22mm thick but as this is natural stone, remember that this can vary from piece to piece as each is unique.
